Urge the young men to be sensible; in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach.  Titus 2:6-8

Founded in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America is one of the largest youth organizations in the US.  Its mission is “to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law”.

The Scout Oath is:

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

The Scout Law is:
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

As part of its Oath and Law and aim to train boys in “moral character development, citizenship training, and development of physical, mental, and emotional fitness”, the Boy Scouts did not allow atheists, homosexuals, and transgenders to be adult leaders or scouts.

But in the last 10 years, the Boy Scouts, under pressure from the immoral revolution and corporate America, have capitulated on their long-held positions, now allowing open homosexuals and transgenders into the organization.  Just recently, the organization decided to allow girls in the Boy Scouts, even dropping “Boy” from its name.

This weekend on The Christian Worldview, Mark Hancock, CEO of Trail Life USA, “a Christ-centered outdoor adventure, leadership, and character development ministry,” will join us to discuss what has happened to the Boy Scouts, why it matters, and how Trail Life USA is providing a faith-based alternative.
