GUEST:  Jerry Bridges, author, Who Am I? Identity in Christ

“Such were some of you [i.e. unrepentant sinners]; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11).

How would you answer the question, Who am I?

Would you define your primary identity in terms of your vocation (“I’m a banker”), your family (“I’m a wife and mother”), your favorite pastime (“I’m a snow boarder”), or perhaps your former way of living (“I’m a recovering alcoholic”)?

While these may help fill in some of the details of one’s identity, for the Christian, one’s identity should be first and foremost grounded in “Who am I in Christ?”  Understanding and living out the core answers to that question helps us see ourselves as God sees us.

Today on the program, we are going to hear an interview with beloved author Jerry Bridges from April 2013.  Last weekend, Jerry went to be with the Lord he so faithfully served.  We are re-aring this program today in honor of Jerry, his family, and the many lives he touched.  He will be greatly missed … and greatly welcomed into heaven.  Please remember his loved ones in prayer in the coming days.
